Befriending

At the heart of Good Neighbours, The Hayling Island Voluntary Care Group is giving a bit of time to listen or to offer a helping hand. These little bits of help add up and make a real difference to people's lives.

"The reason so may people volunteer with Good Neighbours groups is the flexibility it offers".

Do you want to be involved in something meaningful but don't want to feel over committed? The best kept secret is that the time you give is flexible. Befriending fits around your life, work, family commitments, including time out for holidays and leisure.

Skills

Befrienders are needed to make regular visits to someone who may otherwise feel alone or occasionally sit for carers. This is a worth while and rewarding volunteering opportunity that can help older people from becoming lonely and isolated. Currently due to COVID restrictions we are telephoning our "Befriendees" on a regular basis.
