Key to Joy is a Charity that supports adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities within the Fareham/Gosport area. We are always looking for volunteers to help us run the 3 days of activities we hold, 9am - 3pm Monday through to Wednesday. We are based at the 10 Fareham Scout Hut, Highlands Road, Fareham.
Our aim is to support mental and physical wellbeing through meaningful activities, such as environmental care/gardening, life skills (cooking/baking/sustainability/independence) arts and crafts, fitness and socialisation and interactive music sessions. We also have archery and indoor/outdoor games. We have a monthly Friday night disco (hence the name of the charity). We organise day's out, beach litter picking, theatre/cinema trips and other offsite activities for the rest of the week on a regular basis.
We need like minded people to join us for as many hours as you can spare, even if it is only an hour. It makes such a difference to this group of people that have really struggled through the pandemic. We have seen a reduction in services offered to people with disabilities, so it is so important we can continue to support our members many of whom, without us, would feel isolated and lonely.
If you have any hobbies or interests that you feel would benefit our members in any way, we would love for you or your group to showcase your talents, or offer any interactive sessions you can – we fully support our members having a wide and varied experience at FNC … recently, we have had the delights of a local Ukulele group play and sing for us, our members have taken part in a Didgeridoo session, cycle maintenance and safety, crochet and knitting, and even tried their hand at DJ’ing!
We also hold a monthly cares/family HUB and a members HUB. We want to support our members and their carers and families.
