Our vision is a society where Disabled People receive the support they need to live as they choose rather than as just the passive recipients of care. A future, in which Disabled People are empowered, informed, connected and valued.
We want people to have the support to do what makes their lives meaningful, to be connected and have friendships. We want people to contribute to their community. We adhere to the Social Model of Disability.
- To promote volunteering and the opportunities there are to volunteer for DPV especially for people who have long-term health conditions and/or an impairment.
- Network with other relevant projects/organisations in the borough/region/nationally e.g. Digital Champion Network, Volunteer Managers’ Forum.
- To review, design or develop volunteer roles.
- To work with directors to improve and/or develop support resources and procedures for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Policy, Volunteer Handbook, Volunteer Code of Conduct etc.).
- To actively recruit volunteers to expand services and to diversify the volunteer team.
- To interview volunteers and match volunteers appropriately to volunteer roles and organise any necessary DBS checks.
- To induct new volunteers.
- To support new volunteers.
- To manage and assign volunteer workloads.
- To monitor and supervise their work day-to-day/regular/monthly/weekly one-to-one and/or team supervision of volunteers and monitor volunteer satisfaction.
- To assess individual development needs of volunteers and design training programmes to support their personal and professional development.
- To provide appropriate training (either internal or external) for volunteers to develop their skills and ensure that they are comfortable and confident in their role.
- To ensure volunteers have necessary resources to effectively perform their role.
- Administer the volunteers’ expenses and keep a register of DBS checks.
- Maintain volunteer database and keep records of volunteer activities including number of volunteers, hours worked, contact details.
- Provide service statistics for evaluation and provide written reports to the board of directors.
- Actively recognise volunteers for their contribution including organising recognition events.
- To observe our Volunteers’ Code of Conduct.

- Good communication, especially written, and organisational skills.
- Have a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
Other requirements:
- Passionate.
- Lived experience of a disability.
