Volunteer Lead for the LGBTQ+ Dementia Support Group

We are seeking a Volunteer Lead to support and coordinate our new LGBTQ+ Dementia Support Group, launching in September 2026.

This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, organised, and confident in leading inclusive community sessions for people living with dementia. You will be supported by a committed team of volunteers and will help shape a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQ+ men and women who are living with dementia and their loved ones, family and friends who journey with them.

The Volunteer Lead will:

• Welcome attendees and create an inclusive, supportive environment
• Lead activities, reminiscence sessions, and social engagement
• Coordinate volunteers and ensure sessions run smoothly
• Promote dignity, respect, and LGBTQ+‑affirming practice
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the group and services

Skills

• Supporting individuals living with dementia or memory loss
• Understanding of LGBTQ+ inclusion, community needs, and safe‑space principles
• Experience planning or delivering activities that promote social engagement and stimulation
• Ability to work confidently as part of a team
• Warm, patient, and respectful communication skills
• Work as part of an inclusive team
