Volunteer Telephone Befriender

Do you have a few hours to spare on a weekly basis?

Do you want to support Older People in your local community?

If so, this is the role for you!

Our Volunteer Befrienders help improve the quality of life for older people who are socially isolated and may feel lonely. Our Befrienders are introduced to a member with the purpose of them spending time each week to bring friendship, company, and a chance to chat.

MHA Communities New Forest offers support and friendship to older people living in their own homes; helping to maintain independent living, improve well-being and reduce isolation.

During this difficult time of Covid-19 our social groups and day trips have needed to be on hold, this has lead to an increase in demand for our telephone befriending service.

We are looking for Volunteer Telephone Befrienders to chat on the phone with a member of the Scheme offering companionship and support. Ideally volunteers will be able to commit to a weekly phone call, but can also be fortnightly to suit both the volunteer and member.

Skills

Friendly and reliable.
