We are looking for a Treasurer and two new Trustees

Are you passionate about fairness and the need to challenge the impact of poverty and inequality?

Citizens Advice Winchester District is looking for two new Trustees and a Treasurer to join our Board.

What will you be doing?

The Board of Trustees at Citizens Advice Winchester District play a vital role in overseeing the overall governance and strategic direction of our organisation and ensuring that our funds are put to the best use.

The Board of Trustees meets formally four times a year and ad-hoc working groups are established from time to time to take on short-term projects. Trustees are also involved in occasional strategic planning sessions with the staff and are invited to attend the charity’s external events, fundraising exercises and volunteer meetings.

We welcome people from a diversity of backgrounds, but you must have strong strategic and analytical skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a good understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.

What are we looking for?

The current Board has five Trustees and we now wish to recruit up to three people to replace retiring Trustees and to extend and deepen our skills. At this stage of our development we are particularly interested in recruiting individuals to the Board who can offer one or more of the following skill sets:

  • Treasurer
  • Fundraising and other income generation
  • Marketing, media & PR
  • Interest in or knowledge of premises issues
  • IT skills

It isn’t necessary for Trustees to have direct experience of Citizens Advice although if you do this is helpful. What is important is for Trustees to be committed to the charity’s mission and objectives and to be prepared to work with enthusiasm and energy to help the charity fulfil its goals.

What difference will you make?

As part of our Trustee Board you will support and shape our free advice service within Winchester District, helping us to support local people who are in crisis or facing significant challenges in their lives.

For more information please register your interest today, we look forward to hearing from you!
