Volunteers to facilitate children from separated families seeing the parent they no longer live with

Our volunteers act as hosts at sessions when children come to have contact with a parent they no longer live with, so the volunteering is not "hands on" child care but it is interesting and varied as, for families to have got the point of needing to use a contact centre, they have usually reached the point where they are no longer able to communicate with each other. Often the children have witnessed abuse between their parents or may be coming to have contact with a parent they hardly know. All of this brings challenges for the volunteers!

We ask each of our volunteers to commit to covering one 3 hour session a month ad also to attend  3- 4 half day training sessions each year - all on Saturdays. Our volunteers work in teams of 4 -5, with a team leader and we currently have vacancies on teams at both our centres (Havant & Waterlooville venues).

We encourage potential volunteers to come to observe a session before deciding whether this opportunity will suit them or not.
