We have volunteer speakers across the country who are trained to go out to churches, schools and a variety of other groups in their local area to talk about our work. Talks are usually booked through the dedicated Regional Fundraising Manager, who would then contact a local speaker with all the information and ask them to deliver the talk.
We are currently lacking in speakers in the New Forest area, meaning we are unable to fulfill all the talk requests that come through.
Many of our talks take place in church during a Sunday service, so we are looking for people who are comfortable in this environment. We provide full training, information packs, an online speaker ambassador resource page and the support of the Regional Fundraising Manager.
Whilst we do provide sample scripts, we are looking for people who can adapt these to make them unique to yourself, rather than just reading from a script. You can adapt a talk to your audience, the theme and the time you are given to make it as engaging and interesting as possible whilst getting across our message.
You will be given the opportunity to see other volunteer speakers in action, attend supporter events and maybe even visit one of our projects and/or Head Office.
We are a friendly bunch who are all working towards a common vision - a world where children are free from disadvantage.
The speaker programme does fall under the Fundraising department but you are not required to ask for money. Many talks are to thank those already supporting us or to tell new groups about our history and work and how they could get involved with us on a fundraising level if they wish to.
If you are interested in this role, please feel free to contact the Regional Fundraising Manager, Jessica, for a discussion.
