Volunteer Gardening

Would you like to spend time outside, carry out some gardening tasks and help us take care of beds around the park? As part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund project, we have newly planted an orchard in Storey Gardens and have created a number of new beds in the garden and all around the park.

Typical tasks and duties:

  • Weeding and mulching
  • Watering
  • Preparing beds for planting
  • Planting blubs and young shrubs/plants/flowers and occasionally trees
  • Generally looking after our beds, orchard, and community planting spaces in the park

Skills

Some basic gardening skills and knowledge would be useful, but are not essential, as direction can be given by staff and other volunteers in the group.

We have one group that takes place on a weekday morning and another that does an after work evening session. However, the evening session will only run as long as the light holds out in the Autumn and then will finish for the season, starting again in 2022.
