Open Sight, a charity based in Hampshire, are seeking to recruit Trustees with professional backgrounds in Human Resources and also Finance. These are unpaid Director Trustee positions, with paid expenses (e.g. travel, childcare) which would provide an excellent development opportunity, perhaps for someone aspiring to a Board level position. Alternatively we would be very happy to hear from anyone with Trustee or Board level experience.
Open Sight is Hampshire's largest organisation working with people with sight loss. Open Sight offers a range of services for visually impaired people within the core values promoting independence and quality of life; including advice and information services, home visiting, low vision assessments, equipment, family service and a network of clubs. There are around 4,000 service users registered on the database, who are supported by 12 paid staff and around 5,000 volunteers who give their time and support in a number of ways.
We take our responsibilities as a registered charity and limited company very seriously and offer training to all staff and volunteers, including Director Trustees, to ensure they are fully equipped to carry out their role. Trustee meetings are held late afternoon / evening, approximately 6 times per year. Directors also support staff at Head Office in Eastleigh and work on specific projects and attend other meetings and events. Time offered by Trustees varies depending on their commitments.
Experience of Human Resources or Finance, preferably supported by qualification or membership of a related professional body.
