We are looking for volunteers to support the planning and running of the annual Emsworth Show, which is open to all the family with craft, gardening & food stalls, as well entertainment for all. The show takes place in the New Life Church Grounds off Thorney Road in Emsworth on the Bank Holiday Monday in August. Planning for this event tends to start in January/February and the set up for the event at the grounds takes place from the Friday prior to the show on the Monday. There are a core team of volunteers that oversee the planning and set up of the show and they are keen to hear from volunteers who would be willing to help. The team is looking to fill a number of volunteer roles.
The Showground manager would be involved prior to the Show, during the Show and after the Show.
- Once the Showground begins to be set up on the Friday before the Show, this person will assist the Grounds Team and Stalls Team with the arrival of vehicles onto the Showground, and in particular on Sunday afternoon and early on Monday morning when exhibitors will be delivering their exhibits to the Marquee and stallholders will be unloading.
- The Showground Manager will work with the employed security team onsite from Sunday at 1200 till Monday at 1800 and volunteers helping on the Show Day, to ensure safety and security of the public and volunteers, stallholders, exhibitors, etc, attending the Show.
- During the Show, this person will assist any emergency vehicles move within the visitors safely. Also responsible for VIPs and passholders entering the vehicle entrance point and in the priority parking area and for the special stallholders’ park in the Showground. Brief the volunteers arriving to assist with these roles and ensure they have the necessary equipment.
- At the end of the Show, decide when it is safe for vehicles to be allowed to move on the Showground, and continue to oversee vehicle movement on the Showground until the majority have left.
