You will be working closely with New Forest Homes for Ukraine's Board of Directors to develop a communication plan and deliver high quality media coverage, including media releases, setting up media interviews, be involved in writing articles and social media updates:
- Attending the face-to-face monthly board meeting in the Brockenhurst area.
- A very flexible role most of the work could be done remotely.
- Distribute approved press releases in order to locally and, occasionally nationally, publicise the work of NFHU and appeal for assistance while ensuring consistency of branding and messaging.
- Research local print media options across the New Forest to identify those that will take editorial to broaden the audience we reach.
- Identify local social media groups that we could target. The local community teams could help you in this activity.
- Manage media around our partnering activities that meets shared objectives.
- Develop a relationship with a targeted local outlet so that we develop an ongoing local story.
- Write news copy and collate ‘user’ feedback for our website.
- Promote any future fundraising campaigns.
- Report on and evaluate media coverage to guide future strategies.
Volunteer Outcomes:
As a valued and important member of our team you will have the opportunity to make new friends, use your skills and learn new ones, have new experiences and make a real impact in our work to support Ukrainian refugees in the New Forest.
Play a key role in our relatively recently formed organisation, in particular with the recruitment of new hosts, raising public awareness of the ongoing situation in Ukraine and promotion and advancement of our organisation and its objectives.
Skills
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who may have worked in TV, Radio, Journalism, PR or Marketing, able to commit 2-3 hours per week.
A team player with a positive outlook with experience in securing coverage, writing accurate press releases that resonate with their audience and ideally social media experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
