Are you a Veteran (Ex-Forces) served in the Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force?
Do you want to volunteer and become a Veteran Peer Mentor with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Rehabilitation Company (HIOW CRC)?
Many forces personnel find it very difficult to rehabilitate back into society and some end up on Probation orders or in prison.
The role of the Mentor will be to work with the individual, providing them with practical and personal support.
Do you have 3 hours per week free time to mentor ex-forces personnel within the criminal justice system?
If you are interested in becoming a Veteran Peer Mentor then they would like to hear from you. Volunteers will go on to a full 3-day training course, and the opportunity to get an accredited Level 2/3 qualification in mentoring.
The Mentor will act as a facilitator in helping the individual to come to terms with life 'in civvie street' make new friends and assist the Probation service and SSAFA in making their transition a little easier.
N.B: Volunteers should be aged 18 or over for this role.
Personal skills - listening, non judgmental, approachable and friendly, possible some counselling skills, some spare time on their hands and have a genuine desire to help.

Ideally the Mentor will have a good knowledge of the area they live in, where the leisure facilities are and possible ex forces associations.
