Role Summary
The role of the meet & greet volunteer is to provide support to the staff in the Florence Portal House reception area.

What's involved?
- ‘Meet and Greet’ patients/visitors to Florence Portal House
- Direct visitors to the appropriate clinic/person they are visiting – there is a range of gynae and breast clinics, pre-assessment and others as applicable
- If required escort patients/visitors to their destination
- Maintain general tidiness of the area
- Encourage visitors to use alcohol gel
- Collect/deliver items from one department/ward to another
- Distribute any patient/service questionnaires
What's not involved?
- Clinical or medical treatments of any kind
- Psychological interventions
- Moving or handling of patients
- Escorting patients off hospital premises
Training and Support
- Mandatory non-clinical Trust online induction (12 modules)
- Local induction to department area
- Mandated annual and bi-annual update training
- Six-week review with volunteer coordinator

Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Willing to learn and to follow instruction from members of staff
- Good attention to detail
- Committed to help and support staff and the ability to liaise with professionals at all levels
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality

Availability Details
To get the most out of your volunteering experience with us, we recommend that you are available 2-3 hour a week for a period of 6 months or more. Days and times will be based on the needs of the department/ward. We ask all our volunteers to be reliable and punctual and to give us as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your volunteer session.
