About Memories Brought Home (MBH) is an exciting new project based across Hampshire brought to you by The Wessex Heritage Trust. MBH has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and will be running for 15 months starting in March 2019. The project aims to reach socially isolated and lonely individuals in East and West Hampshire by running group workshops and activities based around the participants local heritage. Initially starting in the four hubs of The New Forest, Romsey, Petersfield and Portchester the project is working with heritage sites and local care organisations to bring local heritage alive, increase wellbeing of the participants and create communities.
We are looking for volunteers to help with historic research of their local heritage. If you have a keen interest in heritage and want to learn more, you could be what we are looking for! We need dedicated Research Volunteers who can work remotely, researching and photographing their local area in conjunction with our sessions and activities. Research requests will be sent through weekly/monthly and you will advise the MBH team when you have completed your research. You will send through written paragraphs and any photos via email and the MBH team will upload to a template factsheet.
You will be invited to informal, social catch-ups in your area to meet other volunteers working on the project and find out about the latest news and activities. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is interested in gaining or building on skills in project-based research who want the flexibility of working around other commitments.
Volunteers will be given full support and offered other volunteering roles if they express an interest or may at times be offered the opportunity to attend community events with the team. This will be communicated as and when events arise.
Times, Dates and location Remote research-based roles are flexible to your own time table and mainly completed via email. All research will be carried out remotely from your own location choice.
Project events are attended throughout the year. At interview you will asked if you would like to be invited to these, and then contacted before the event.
Referencing /DBS Check All volunteers may need to provide references and may require a DBS check to be completed. This is free and you will be supported throughout the process.
