The Butterflies Friendship Service works across Southern Hampshire to provide volunteers who befriend someone who is often lonely and isolated and who have a lack of friends who they can talk to each week. For many people a weekly phone call is the only contact that they have outside a family member, and for many people they have no local family contact.
By being a friendship buddy we will allocate you one or two clients to call each week.
These calls are for 15 minutes only and we have full guidelines on what to talk about and safety in place and these calls are weekly.
We have found that during the pandemic the number of lonely and isolated people across the area has increased significantly and now as some normality is returning many people have been identified as lonely who the NHS and others were not aware of before.
We have over 50 people on the waiting list for friendship calls and any help from volunteers really would be appreciated
We need buddies in Winchester, Eastleigh, New Milton, Southampton, North Baddesley, Andover and surrounding areas.
