The Horrill is a bright, welcoming, modern, purpose built Day Care Centre for both physically frail and E.M.I guests, including people with dementia. We provide lots of activities including tai chi, Nordic walking, quizzes, games, talks, arts and crafts, day-trips and social stimulation. We aim to offer a welcoming, caring, interesting environment for all who access the centre.
We would love volunteers to assist with various therapeutic activities i.e. word games, craft, exercise to music and, if confident with the leading of small groups. Just an extra pair of hands to help individuals with board games, crosswords, computers etc is really valuable.
We also really weclome volunteers who can provide a listening ear and chat with clients especially those who are new to the centre, to help with refreshments and serve meals.
Our Volunteers are a valuable asset to our daily running of the centre, helping in every way to make an enjoyable day for our elderly guests also giving important respite for their carers. Times can be flexible but we would ideally like it if people could commit to an hour or two a week.
Talking to others, listening, being friendly and sociable.
