Crimestoppers Social Media Volunteer

Hampshire (and IoW) Crimestoppers Committee is looking for a Social Media Volunteer to promote, develop and maintain our online presence in order to maximize our impact and to promote ourselves as widely as possible to the local community.

Role Description:

  • Produce relevant and interesting content for use across all social media platforms.
  • Use social media and the regional web pages to maintain a regular and consistent online presence to promote the activities and achievements of the local Committee.
  • Ensure that communication reaches a wide range of local stakeholders and diverse audience.
  • Keeping our social media channels updated on a frequent basis and encouraging our followers to comment on our posts and share them with others.
  • Create and maintain a social media plan and track the effectiveness of our social media work and recommend ways forward.
  • Develop publicity materials and communication techniques to target communities who are under-represented.
  • To ensure that all Committee activity considers the potential use of social media.
  • Increase the number of followers across all social media platforms.
  • To maintain contact with, and be a primary contact for, the Crimestoppers Digital Manager.

Skills

Personal Profile/ experience:

  • Proficient in using different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter and YouTube), websites and email.
  • Ability to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging stories suitable for Twitter, Facebook etc.
  • To be able to communicate effectively, be articulate, with strong writing skills and the ability to feedback accurately
  • Knowledge and understanding of the geographic area supported by the Committee and the organisation’s strategies and plans.

Commitment:

  • The role requires around 5-10 hours per month, although this will predominantly involve working from home, you will need to be able to travel to regular Committee meetings.
  • Depending on your interest and availability, you could take on this role for a group of local Committees in the same region.
  • There may be opportunity to attend other events or activities associated with the charity if wished.
