Our Winchester Brendoncare Homes are relying on weekly testing for all staff to ensure that we can continue to run a safe and supportive community for our residents and Mews residents living in our services. We are looking for COVID testing volunteers to be on hand to support our COVID testing at our care homes.
Purpose of the role
The main purpose of the role would be to process staff members details, using a computer to record results of COVID testing. The tests are carried out in a communal safe area in our care homes.
The tests are on staff who are well and who are not suffering any symptoms of Coronavirus. The Lateral Flow Test (LFT) involves a staff member self-administering a nose and throat swab, as the volunteer you will then continue with the process of testing the swab, this result is available in 30 minutes. The PCR test involves a staff members testing in the same way, however this swab is then sent to the lab.
You would be responsible for inputting the correct staff data held on file and then registering the staff details via an online form. Full training will be given for you to do this.
The role is to be carried out between during the day, at a time discussed with the home manager. Usually between 11am - 5pm. Volunteers should be consistent and should be able to commit to sessions on a rota basis. Weekday and Weekend support required.
Health and Safety
Any volunteers that carry out this role would be included in the weekly testing programme at the home to ensure you are safe. PPE, hand sanitiser and wipes are provided. Social distancing rule should be observed and you will not need to have contact with anyone without the correct PPE. A risk assessment will be carried out and all volunteers will be required to complete a risk assessment self-assessment before commencing the role.
