Community First is a registered Charity. We aim to be the difference that makes a difference in our local communities. Community led and people powered, we work across sectors with community members to affect positive change and be a force for good.
During the Covid-19 pandemic many people have relied on the benefits of digital technology to help keep in contact with friends and loved ones and to arrange vital services such as shopping deliveries. At Community First however we realise that not everyone is able to access or afford the equipment to be able to do this. Many people also aren't familiar with new technologies and may not be able to use them with confidence.
That's where you come in. We would love to hear from you if you have the skills it would take to help someone to take up their tablet, light up their laptop and conquer their computer.
This could mean setting up a tablet for someone, helping them to download apps or arrange their weekly internet shop. It may mean supporting them to become familiar with using Zoom, Google hangouts or other social connection services or it may just be talking through a problem or helping troubleshoot.
If you could spare a few hours a week to be involved we would love to hear from you.
Basic IT skills would be needed and the ability to navigate a range of electronic devices with confidence.
An enjoyment of meeting new people and the ability to communicate instructions in a friendly, accessible manner.
An internet connection and home IT equipment would be beneficial.
