Community First is recruiting volunteers to support people in need due to coronavirus in Havant Borough.
This is mainly to help people who are unable to leave their home. This could be because they are vulnerable or because they have been asked to self-isolate. We are also preparing in case there is another local or national lockdown. If you volunteer, you will be part of a bank of people who may be asked to help with the many and varied requests for support that we receive each week. This could include:
- Collecting prescriptions
- One-off shopping
- Dog walking
- Posting letters
- Regular 'check in and chat' on the phone with vulnerable and/or isolated people
- Help to get people on-line, eg to use online shopping
We are looking for people who are flexible and want to help. We realise that you may not always be available, and we welcome whatever help you can give.
If you would like to volunteer your time, please register you interest. We will get back to you as soon as possible to talk about what you would like to do and how you can best help.
No specific skills are needed just a positive, outgoing attitude and flexible, adaptable approach. Sometimes volunteers may be needed on an ad hoc basis and sometimes for more regular periods.
We aim to direct offers of support so that volunteers are working within their own communities. If you want to/are able to travel please do let us know. We work closely with other local organisations to coordinate support across the borough and to direct volunteers to where they are most needed.
Other useful information includes:
- How would you like to help?

- Do you have a current DBS check?
Please make sure when registering to tick the box that says you are happy for us to contact you.
