Become a Virtual Volunteer at one our Online clubs as an Admin Assistant

Are you looking for Virtual Volunteering?

Brendoncare operates a wealth of online clubs and we are looking for volunteers to help maintain these.

Why volunteer with Brendoncare Clubs?

Brendoncare aims to improve the quality of life for older people, and our local networks of friendship clubs are vital in combating loneliness and social isolation. They enable our members to develop relationship networks and each club aims to respond to the interests, needs, aspirations and choices of each individual.

Our network now includes online clubs, which are run on Zoom. This role is an opportunity to play an important part in running a online club. As Online Club Admin Volunteer your main role will be to ensure the smooth technical running of club sessions by scheduling Zoom meetings and sending out Zoom invitations. You will set up Zoom sessions and admit participants, ensuring that members’ safety and confidentiality are maintained. If participants need additional support to access and practice Zoom you will be able to refer them to our digital coaching service and online practice club “New to Zoom”.

This role can be combined with that of Online Club Host Volunteer.

Who are you?

You will be well organised with good technical and communication skills and with some time to spare for this regular commitment. You will need a device (e.g. laptop, tablet) and be familiar with Zoom and email in order to access club sessions and training. It does not matter where you live geographically. You will be provided with a Brendoncare email address and Brendoncare Zoom account.

You may be looking for a role where you can use your professional and life-skills in a meaningful way; be interested to develop new skills, or be exploring ways to prepare you for future paid roles.

What is required?

We require two satisfactory references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will need to complete Induction training, which is currently being delivered using Zoom. There are other essential training modules, such as Safeguarding and Dementia Awareness.

How will we support you as a volunteer?

You will be managed by a nominated staff member, who will catch up with you regularly by telephone, Zoom and face to face meetings and will attend some of your online club sessions. During working hours there will always be a member of staff available to discuss any concerns or issues you have. You will have the opportunity to connect with other volunteers for mutual support e.g. Volunteer Forums.

As a volunteer, you will have access to Brendoncare’s Employee Assistance Programme. This is a free and confidential service, available 24/7, offering counselling and emotional support, as well as information and help to resolve issues such as debt, legal concerns and consumer issues.

What are the benefits for you?

The Online Club Admin Volunteer role allows you expand and develop at your own pace. We provide you with an induction, ongoing training, support and reimbursement of out of pocket expenses.

This is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the community and to benefit from the positive impact your volunteering can have to help improve the lives of older people in your area.
