Online Club Tech Support Volunteer - fully remote!

Why volunteer with Brendoncare?

Brendoncare offer a range of services from community support and clubs, through to extra care housing and residential care, helping thousands of people across the south of the UK. These services are designed to empower people to live their whole life well, and it is largely down to the kindness, bravery and positivity of our volunteers that we are able to do so.

Brendoncare believes that without diversity we will be unable to fulfil our vision. We would like to hear from people who share a strong belief in our vision and values. We have a range of volunteer roles to suit people, regardless of age, background, or whether you can get out and about or want to stay at home; we’d like to hear from you.

Who are you?

We are looking for well organised individuals with a passion for supporting older people, who enjoy communicating with others and who also have good digital skills – specifically email and Zoom! We’re not looking for IT professionals as we offer full training and ongoing support.

What is required?

This role plays an important part in running one of our online clubs. As an Online Club Tech Support Volunteer, your main role will be to ensure the smooth technical running of club sessions by scheduling Zoom meetings and sending out Zoom invitations. You will run the Zoom sessions and admit participants, ensuring that members’ safety and confidentiality are maintained. You will work with another online volunteer who will host the session and of course, you will be able to participate in the session too.

You will need a device (e.g. laptop, tablet) and be familiar with using Zoom and email in order to access club sessions and training. It does not matter where you live geographically as this role is completely remote. An email address and Zoom account for use whilst volunteering will be provided.

We will take up references and complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Training is important to make sure we keep you and everyone we work with safe. All training is conducted online using Zoom. Ongoing support from the Brendoncare staff team is also available.

When can I volunteer?

We have a number of online clubs.

We are specifically looking for volunteers to support with the following clubs: Cook Along Live (Monday or Tuesdays, monthly), Monday morning friendship (Mondays, 10-11, weekly), Virtual Voices (Wednesdays, 6-7, weekly), Music for All (day/time TBC), Friday Fit & Wellbeing (Fridays, 10:30-11:30, weekly) and Nature Club (Thursdays, 2-3, every 3 weeks).

However, please do get in touch whatever your availability as we are flexible!

Benefits and impact of getting involved

This role allows you to develop at your own pace gaining experience, skills, confidence and friendships. We provide you with an induction, ongoing training and support, and reimbursement of out of pocket/travel expenses. Your DBS check will be provided at no financial cost to you. This is a fantastic opportunity to empower people at whatever stage of life they are – don’t just take our word for it!

All I can say is how much satisfaction and enjoyment I get out of it. I look forward every week to seeing the residents who greet me with smiles and appreciate the chats and laughs. It is so rewarding. I love all the staff too, many I have known a long time”. – Yvonne (Knightwood Volunteer)
