Support4Send New Roles, New Opportunities!

5 June 2018

Could you help support a young person in a meeting with educational staff? Or visit a parent at home to help them write their views about their child’s special educational needs. If so, then a Hampshire wide service would be interested in hearing from you.

Support4SEND is a free and confidential service offering information, advice and support on issues relating to a child or young person’s special educational needs or disability. The service works with parents and with children and young people up to the age of 25.

It has 6 different volunteer roles to help deliver the service, 3 are based in Winchester and 3 are County-wide. Currently there are 15 volunteers based in different parts of Hampshire, one of whom is Craig Morris. Craig has been volunteering for about 15 years. When asked what he enjoys most about the role he replied, “Variety. Every call to help is different. Plus knowing that you are making a difference.”

Support4SEND is holding an open recruitment morning on Wednesday 20th June from 10.30 to 12.30 where you can find out more about its service and the roles on offer. It is being held at Community First’s office, Winchester Discovery Centre, Jewry Street, Winchester, SO23 8SB.
