Social Action Day with Deadwater Valley Trust: #VolunteersWeek 2019

12 May 2019

7th June 2019 | 09:45-13:30 | Bordon Inclosure

Community First’s Social Action Days are a chance to get out and give volunteering a go in friendly company. For this year’s Social Action Day, we’re heading to Bordon Inclosure. We’re looking to involve local residents as well as student groups, business teams, and anyone who wants to come along and help the cause.

Please join us for a summer morning of fresh air, meeting new people, and conservation work in the great outdoors!

The mission for the day

Our mission will be lending a hand to the Deadwater Valley Trust. Their conservation work helps to maintain Bordon Inclosure as an enjoyable place to visit and a healthy habitat for local wildlife. Lately, they’re battling growths of Himalayan balsam, a plant which can harm other vegetation and the riverbanks – so we’re going to help them clear it from the woodland. No previous conservation experience is necessary as the Rangers will guide the group. Please remember your sturdy boots and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We’re going to get stuck in!

Volunteers Week

This event will be part of the nationwide Volunteers Week, which celebrates the selfless contributions of volunteers to their communities and charitable causes. If you’ve never had the chance to try volunteering before, why not come along and see the difference that just one morning can make? You can ask about regular volunteering with the Trust if you’re keen to continue, and Community First’s Volunteer Service staff will be there to talk to.
