April’s Cause of the Month
Volunteer as a Village Agent
Rural living can be wonderful but some people become lonely and have difficulty finding the services they need that help them to live safely and independently. Village Agents are volunteers working for Age Concern Hampshire who provide information and a helping hand to local people to enable them to find the support they need and to engage with the local community.
There are around 50 volunteer Village Agents based in rural or semi-rural locations across Hampshire. If you enjoy meeting people, want to get involved in your local area and see people’s lives improve because of your help, this role could be right for you.
One lady sent this note to her local Village Agent: “For many weeks I have been wanting to express my appreciation for all your work & patience. As we age, life becomes more difficult. A sincere thank you for all you do.”
And the Village Agent who provided the help says: “Being a Village Agent has given me a sense of purpose, satisfaction and achievement.”
