Volunteers – book now for our Virtual Volunteer Fair!

With the end of the roadmap in sight, there’s never been a better time to volunteer in Hampshire.  After month of restrictions, many organisations reliant on volunteer effort to help deliver their services are planning for the future and are looking to recruit new volunteers.

Our Virtual Volunteer Fair is a great opportunity to learn first-hand about the varied and exciting volunteering roles available in Hampshire.  Forty organisations are participating in this event all seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join them in their amazing work supporting communities across the County.

These organisations are charities and volunteer led community groups offering a range of opportunities from conservation workers to community responders and befrienders to bakers.  There is something for everyone!  Many opportunities are flexible and can fit around work and life commitments.

There are so many reasons for volunteering:

  • make a real difference to the lives of others in your community
  • do something fulfilling and rewarding
  • make new friends
  • gain valuable work experience

The Virtual Volunteer Fair is free to attend and open to all residents interested in volunteering.

When: 9.15 am for registration and introductions 9.30 start – 3.00 pm on Wednesday 14th July.

Royal Voluntary Service – Home from Hospital Service

This service is available to patients at Winchester Hospital, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and Alton offering support to enable readjustment at home.  Volunteers will visit at home and assist with tasks such as shopping, prescriptions and befriending.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS)

SCAS is looking to recruit more Community First Responders (CFRs) to join the 300 volunteers already operating in Hampshire. CFRs will receive full training to deliver life-saving skills such as the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), basic airway management, oxygen therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

This is a great opportunity for anyone who likes to meet people, learn about history or wants to get experience of working in a visitor attraction.

The Brickworks Museum, Bursledon

The Brickworks Museum is the only remaining steam-driven brickworks in the country and is housed in the original Grade 2* Listed buildings, complete with the running Victorian steam engine and machinery. The Museum is open to the public and is dependent on volunteers to carry out work.  There are a range of volunteering roles available including front of house, machine restoration, collections care, family activities and manning the miniature railway.

Tools with a Mission

Tools with a Mission collect unwanted tools, refurbish and sort them into trade kits and send them across the world for livelihood creation. Relying on volunteers for Tool Refurbishers and Tools Collectors, the organisation sends over 20 containers filled with 300 tonnes of tools every year.
Winchester Churches Nightshelter

Providing a warm bed, nutritious food and a programme of practical and emotional support with the aim of helping residents escape homelessness and rebuild their lives for independent living.  A range of practical volunteers are sought including an evening and weekend helpers and cooks.

Winchester Good Neighbours

Winchester Good Neighbours Group helps local residents with medical transport to local hospitals, GP surgeries and other medical appointments.  This volunteer-led group is looking for drivers with their own car to support and expand this much needed service.

Winchester Street Reach

This provision of detached youth work that meets young people on their territory and on their terms helps us to recognise which young people are at risk and what their needs are.
